Geological sampling is carried out to obtain samples of bottom sediments (BS); dolomite material (DM), sulphide ores and ore crusts (DPS). The purpose of sampling is to study the geological structure of the work area, to establish the nature of geophysical and hydrophysical anomalies, to study the spatial distribution and material composition of all types of bottom formations developed at the site of work.
To solve these problems, we use:
- Rock dredge - for obtaining samples of bottom rock material.
- Box corer (BC) - for sampling of bottom sediments and metalliferous bottom sediments.
- Telegrab (DG-1) - to obtain the detected samples of deep-sea polymetallic sulphides and altered rocks with vein-disseminated sulfide mineralization.
- Hydraulic grab with TV control (GK-6T) - for selection of semi-rock and rock material.
Rock dredge and box corer fall on a steel cable 6 km long from the starboard stern winch. Outboard work with the telegrab is carried out from the winch for TV systems and ROUV on a 6 km long fiber-optic load carrying cable, through the U-shaped portal

Survey coordination of the equipment is carried out by the ship and the system of underwater navigation in the "short base" mode (telegrab).
For the raised masses of the bottom formations on board the vessel, the following activities are carried out in the process of documentation:
- geological processing of samples on board;
- fragmentation of initial raw samples using a multi-stage crushing-grinding cycle;
- fragmentation of initial geochemical samples;
- grinding (abrasion) of laboratory samples to analytical ones.
1. Purpose:
The DG-1 telegrab is designed to select bottom samples by scooping at depths of up to 5,000 meters. The built-in camera provides real-time monitoring of the process with the ability to record to the media.
2. Main features:
• Scoop volume - 0,4 m3
• Coverage area - 1.5 m2
• Unit weight - 2,100 kg
• Drive mechanism - hydraulic
• Unit power - 11 kW
• Hydraulic system pressure - working pressure 150 bar
• Hydraulic system consumption max 80 liter/minute
• Optional - camera, hydraulic oil temperature sensor, hydraulic oil pressure sensor, unit voltage voltmeter, 24V bus voltmeter, ammeter.
GK-6 Telegrab
